Mrs.
Smith
4 year-old Kindergarten

Education: I attended Bryan college from 1991 to 1993.
Years in Education:
I started teaching in 2002, and I started here at Grace in 2003. I have always taught K4.
Favorite Teacher: All of my teachers impacted me to some extent. Mrs. Barth, my drama teacher, really believed in me and taught me how to stretch and grow in an area I loved (drama and theatre).
Why I became a teacher: At first it was a means for my own children to go to a private Christian school. Little did I know how much I was going to love working with "the little people", and how I had a gift that the Lord has blessed me with. I just want to use my talent for Him.
Special Interests in Education: Early childhood education. My favorite part of teaching is using manipulatives (play dough, shaving cream, etc) through learning. At 4, the children think they're playing while learning lots...reinforcing what they've learned on paper.
Hobbies: I enjoy being active with my family. We enjoy all sports, watching and participating. I really enjoy keeping house (as crazy as that sounds), movies, vacationing, and discovering new places with my husband.
Family Info: My husband, Rev. J. Michael Smith, daughter Ariel Joy and son Michael Allen
Favorite Scripture: Psalm 47. Being still and letting God handle all my worries and desires. He is moving and blessing me. After 5 years of prayer, I am pregnant and looking forward to mommyhood one more time.
Favorite Subject in school: Music and Drama
Favorite Food: Salsa and chips, pizza, chili, and cheeseburgers.
I'm looking forward to another great year at Grace. I already see great potential in my k-4 class. My door is always open! :)
